Totally Free Checking...but only for so long

Let me tell you that things irritate me from time to time. The latest is that the Totally Free Checking account I have through Commerce Bank with little to no money in it is now going to be charged a $7 a month service fee. So, the new definition of Totally Free is ... until we change our minds, if you have a direct deposit, if you keep a large balance, and if you are willing to cower to our ever changing minds.

Luckily, I found another bank that:

1. wants my business
2. won't charge me
3. was happy to see me
and
4. told me I was the 7th customer they'd seen from Commerce this week and they're happy to have all of their business.

Happy Day Everyone!

My Dining Room wants to Escape

In preparing for the garage sale in the middle of May, my dining room has now become a large receptacle for all things I want to get rid of. All the items are marked and tagged. That doesn't include the pile that is downstairs just waiting to come up.

I know it's about 2 1/2 weeks away but my dining room is going to send me a note shortly stating..."NO MORE CRAP!"

Enjoy your day!

Happy and 40? Really?

I have recently found a group of friends that I haven't seen since 1979-80. The one and only year that I lived in a very small town in Texas. If you know where Floydada is, you're one of the few. I love the look from people when I tell them I've lived there. It even beats out Effingham, Illinois, for small places with odd names where I've lived.

Back to 1979, we moved there over the summer. My dad worked for CaseIH (tractors and construction equipment) Therefore another job opened up and off we went. This was a memorable year of living in Floydada for me. My sister was born in August of 1979, but not in town....my mom drove 90 minutes southwest to have my sister at a "real" hospital in Lubbock. About 6 months later, I was getting ready for gym class, slipped during the splits on a wooden floor, and ended up fracturing my pelvic bone. This was undetected in the Floydada hospital. Was diagnosed correctly when my mother was horrified that I was walking like a duck and limping several weeks later. Back in Lubbock with "real" doctors, I was diagnosed correctly.

With the advent of Facebook, I've just gotten in touch with 4 friends I haven't seen or heard from since we left Floydada in June of 1980. 4th grade was very memorable there. We went to parties (birthday and Halloween), played outside constantly, and had a lot of fun. Pam, Angela, Ludustia, and Andrea....I'm so happy to be back in touch with you guys. We're really 40? I am and I'm happy to have you all back in touch with me.

Cleaning

You know the thing I love about Spring is opening up the windows and letting my house air out. I love to feel a cool breeze come through.

What I don't like is when you turn around and with the breeze has come dust, pollen, and fuzz of some sort that makes everything you cleaned 20 minutes ago look like it hasn't been touched for months. Since I can't get window screens that filter out everything, I guess I'll have to live with it.

Oh well, in the mean time I'll keep cleaning and cleaning and enjoy the air while I can before my allergies kick in and I have to shut the whole operation down until next year.
